1967 Ford Mustang Convertible

(Her Car!)

Kari's 1967 Mustang Convertible was purchased in May 2001 when Kari said she really wanted a convertible.  We decided that if we were going to spend 15 to 30k on a convertible we'd like to be one that if she decided to change her mind we could sell at not so great a loss.  We found this decent convertible at Play Toys in Yucaipa, CA.  It was kind of an older restoration so it was perfect for a daily driver.

Original equipment included a 289 2bbl carburetor, power steering, 4 wheel non powered drums, non powered convertible top with glass window, 3 speed automatic transmission.  They had upgraded the rims (To Crager 14"), and the stereo head unit to a am/fm with tape that matched the car.  We have simply driven the car and upgraded things as they needed to be replaced, here are some of what we have done to the car.

  • Upgraded to Front Power Disk Brakes through Stainless Steel Brake Company
  • Upgraded all the air conditioning system to Cold Air Products factory conversion
  • 3 Point Seatbelts throughout the car
  • Sony Extreme 100 watt amp and 5.25" 3 way speakers in the kickpanels
  • 2003 Mustang GT 5 Spoke Chrome Rims
  • All new front Mylothene bushings, control arms, power steering assembly
  • 1.25" Front Sway Bar
  • 3/4" Rear Sway Bar
  • KYB Gas Adjust shocks
  • 15" 3 spoke steering wheel.

The only reason we have not done more with this car is simply nothing else has broke.  We of course have a pretty strong to do list, I mean we've been driving the car for 4 years, even a new car would have things to do.  Most of them are cosmetic, when we bought the car the older two stage paint had started to crack in the clear coat, and even though the car appears perfectly straight, theres some heavy body work that will need to be replaced with metal again to really make the car great.

So what's next, well if you look on the home page I'm getting ready to jump head long into a full restomod conversion of a 1964 Pontiac.  So the mustang has to go.  Heck as long as she looks good while I'm passing people on the freeway I'm happy, she ain't no showgirl, she's a "GO GIRL"!

And she's sold now, we will miss her
